Dipping into Crochet

I have always wanted to learn to knit and then I seen crochet (one of my friends has taken it up) so I joined a few Facebook groups and I got a wee starter kit as part of my Christmas.

This was my first chain attempt

This yarn I got with a starter knitting kit that I never got into attempting and it is quite thin so makes it easier to see the links in the yarn, counting is important and even coming into my third week I miss count.

So what did I need to start? My wee kit was less than a tenner ($10, £10), you can get a ball of yarn (wool) out of the pound shop, internet is a good start. I got a beginner book as a gift and find it really difficult to follow, some of the youtube videos are really good as they slow it down in some videos. I have mostly practiced after coming home from a nightshift but more time and practice will go a long way I think. I haven't made anything proper yet, still trying to pick up the basics and get my head around it, I am a slow learning with creative stuff. I made a wee crochet Instagram and will post piccys to it as I go but someone asked about a blog so I have popped this up and will try and keep it updated. If I can learn this anyone can and some of the creations are utterly amazing and if you have a crochet account either on Insta or a blog let me know and I will follow it. P.s the name Betty, if you don't know me, I call everyone and everything Betty, man, women, animals so perfect for my wee project page(s).
